Master Instructor (4th Dan) Donald Ross has been awarded the title of Black Belt of the Year for 2013.  He received the announcement and a plaque on November 23, 2013 Junior Grand Master Mark D Good.

Master Ross started Tae Kwon Do under Master Kerry McCarthy in 1994. When Master McCarthy moved to Novi, Michigan her student Kate Weatherwax took over the position of teaching the class. In 2004 Master Ross took over the role of Instructor and has been teaching continuously since then.

Master Ross has produced three 2nd Dans and some first Dans during this time span. In 2012 he Tested in Dyersberg, Tennessee for the rank of 4th Dan

He has worked for Meijer for over 25 years. He hold a BBM degree from GVSU.

During JGM Good’s period of illness, during the summer of 2013, Master Ross and Master Tran, Master Herdegen , Master Lindstrom and Master Fynewever, stepped forward and made sure JGM Good’s class still was running.

Some of the previous winners of BB of the Year are Master Michael Madden (Wyoming, MI – deceased), Master Tran (Byron Center, MI), Mr Gartland (Rochester, NY), Master Wrona (Solon, IA).
All have been and still are assets and leaders in the Art of Tae Kwon Do.
